Inserting and Formatting: Autoshapes

Go to the "Insert" tab. On the "Illustrations" section, look for the "Shapes" icon and click on that. to reveal a drop-down pane.




Click on the shape you like and it will appear on your document. In this image, i used a bolt shape. You can apply effects just as you would in a picture. Just select the shape that you applied on the document and a "Format" tab will appear. You can rotate the shape, resize it, give it 3d effects, shadowing and perspective shadowing.
